Data Entry Operator — Office, BPO and Records Teams, Pakistan Employers

Banks, hospitals, logistics and clearing agents, textile manufacturers, e-commerce companies, BPO firms, government departments and NGOs across Pakistan hire data entry operators. It is one of the most accessible full-time office roles in the country for a candidate with Intermediate qualifications, and one where the sector you enter matters more than the title.

What the work involves

Keying customer, patient, inventory or financial records into a database, ERP or accounting system; digitising paper files; verifying entries against source documents and correcting errors; maintaining daily reports in Excel; and supporting an administrative team with clerical work.

Requirements

• Matric or Intermediate for most entry-level and government posts; a bachelor's degree opens supervisory and specialised roles
• Typing speed with accuracy — government advertisements commonly specify a minimum, and the practical test is separate from the written paper
• MS Word, MS Excel and Google Sheets as a baseline; ERP or database experience is a strong advantage
• English and Urdu literacy; strong written English for BPO work serving international clients
• CNIC, CV, educational certificates, photographs and experience letters where applicable

Two very different pay structures

• Private sector. Set by the employer and the city. BPO and night-shift work pays a premium over general office roles for the same duties
• Government. Set by grade under the Basic Pay Scales. The post is advertised anywhere from BPS-11 to BPS-14 depending on the department, and allowances sit outside basic pay
• Freelance. Not a salary at all. Published figures span an eightfold range because they are describing entirely different levels of work

Before you apply

For a government post, check the grade in the advertisement and treat basic pay and gross salary as different numbers. For a private post, ask whether the role is day shift or night shift before comparing it with anything, because that difference is worth more than one year of experience.
