Employers range from local e-commerce sellers and outsourcing firms in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad to international clients hiring across time zones.

What the role is screened on

Accuracy first, speed second. Most employers ask for a typing test result, commonly 30 to 40 words per minute with a high accuracy score, and comfort with Excel or Google Sheets — sorting, filtering and simple formulas rather than anything advanced. Bilingual typing, basic data cleaning and familiarity with a CRM raise the rate.

Requirements

• Typing accuracy, and a speed the employer will usually ask you to evidence
• Excel or Google Sheets basics, and willingness to learn the employer's own system
• A computer, a stable connection, and a plan for load shedding if you are in Pakistan
• No formal experience for most postings; attention to detail matters more than a CV
• Availability for the stated schedule, whether that is a fixed shift or a batch deadline

Two different pay structures

• Fixed schedule — you log in for set hours through a company portal and are paid monthly or hourly. Steadier, and the structure a beginner should prefer.
• Task or batch based — you are paid per completed batch of entries. More flexible in theory, but the volume arrives on the client's schedule rather than yours.

This is the most impersonated job category online, so verify before you engage. No genuine employer charges for training, software, a starter or enrolment kit, or the release of your own wages. Be especially careful with postings that use a large retailer's name: Amazon does not advertise work-from-home data entry, and offers that do are a documented impersonation scam. Genuine Amazon-adjacent work is with third-party sellers and agencies, and Amazon's own remote roles are listed on its official careers site.
