Driver — Private, Delivery, Heavy Truck

Saudi employers and licensed recruitment agencies hire foreign drivers year-round across Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam — private and family drivers, delivery and courier riders, corporate staff drivers, bus drivers, and heavy truck and trailer operators for logistics, construction and oil and gas contractors.

Which category you are hired under matters

This is the single most important thing to check before signing. A company driver is employed under the Saudi Labour Law: 48-hour week, end-of-service benefit, salary paid through the Wage Protection System, and the job-mobility rights introduced by the 2021 Labour Reform Initiative. A private house driver is classified as a domestic worker under a separate regulation, is recruited through the government's Musaned platform, and was not included in that mobility reform. Same job title, different legal position — ask which one your contract falls under.

Requirements

• Valid driving licence — light vehicle for private, delivery and corporate roles; heavy vehicle for truck, trailer and bus work
• Typically 2–7 years of driving experience, depending on the employer and vehicle class
• Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
• Passport valid for at least one more year, plus police clearance and attested documents
• Medical fitness certificate from an approved GAMCA / Wafid centre before the visa is issued
• Basic English or Arabic for navigation, deliveries and instructions
• Most employers set an age range of roughly 20–45
• Your home-country licence usually has to be converted to a Saudi licence after arrival

What is on offer

• Roughly SAR 1,200–1,500 a month for private and house drivers, usually with accommodation and meals provided
• Roughly SAR 2,000–3,900 a month for delivery and courier drivers, often part commission
• Roughly SAR 1,500–2,500 and up for heavy truck and trailer drivers, plus trip allowances and overtime
• Employer-sponsored work visa and Iqama, medical insurance, and end-of-service benefit for Labour Law contracts
• Accommodation, transport and annual return flights are commonly included — confirm each one in writing

Before you pay anyone anything

Never pay for a visa or a job offer. Saudi rules place recruitment costs on the employer, and this is where nearly every scam in this category starts. Use only an agency licensed by your own government — the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment in Pakistan, an eMigrate-registered agent in India, or a BMET-registered agency in Bangladesh — and treat any "free visa" or "azad visa" offer as illegal, because working for anyone other than your registered sponsor exposes you to an absconding (huroob) report and deportation.
